Applications to help with weight loss

Posted by Margaret Donohue on September 23, 2012 at 8:45 AM

There are many helpful applications for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac that can help with weight loss.  There are a couple of strategies that health psychologists suggest to assist people wanting to lose weight.

STRATEGIES

1.  Don't think of weight loss as a diet.  Think of it as a permanent lifestyle change.

2.  Keep track of what you eat.

3.  Eat deliberately.  Don't just eat mindlessly on the couch while watching your favorite netflix movie.

4.  Serve yourself portions, don't just eat out of the bag.

5.  Track exercise by time and distance or repetitions and activity.

6.  Do an exercise activity you like.

7.  Build in non-food reinforcements or establish a social support network to help you stay on track and stay motivated.

8.  Keep foods you don't want to be eating out of the house or out of sight.
